Our Lady of Providence High School adheres to and maintains a Health and Wellness policy that meets the requirements set forth in the Indiana Healthy Schools Toolkit. The policy is reviewed annually by a team of stakeholders that include Students, Parents, Cafeteria Staff, School Administrators, the Health and P.E. Department, and a Health Care Professional.

If any student, faculty/staff, or parent is interested in knowing more about our Health and Wellness plan, or has a desire to be a part of the committee, please contact Steve Beyl at sbeyl@providencehigh.net

Highlights of the plan include:

  • A full year of Health and Physical Education courses for Freshman students
  • Multiple Physical education electives for upperclassmen that educate students on the value of healthy living and exercise (including the tracking of weight, strength, BMI, etc)
Multiple sports offered through our athletic department with over 70% participation among the student body
  • Promotional materials encouraging healthy eating habits posted throughout the cafeteria
  • Daily salad bar with fresh vegetables for Faculty and Students
  • Healthy meal options with wheat bread, fresh fruits and vegetables, and low-fat milk
  • A 28 minute lunch period to allow students both time for lunch and rest after eating
  • An educated and proactive cafeteria staff who frequently attend training sessions and the annual state conference
